Join us for our inaugural Idaho Teen Trail Corps Camp outside of beautiful Cascade, ID! We’ll be based at and supported by the YMCA Camp at Horsethief Reservoir, staying in their yurts. The camp is for NICA high school student-athletes (as of Fall 2020) who are interested in becoming a leader in trail advocacy.

Daily rides will be complemented by trail stewardship activities, adventure challenges, and learning about what it takes to be a service minded leader in your community. We’ll primarily be outdoors, but will also spend some time in a workshop setting learning and practicing the values of the Teen Trail Corps Captain program; Ride, Speak, Serve, and Respect. Student-athletes will emerge from camp well on their way to achieving their TTC Captain status and ready to inspire their teammates as trail advocacy leaders. Come join us in Idaho’s West Central Mountains to get dirty, make an impact on local trails, learn what it takes to lead, and of course…ride!

Contact Matt Galyardt at matt@idahomtb.org for questions.

DETAILS

4.5 days and 4 nights of fun and mountain bikes with a cast of co-ed NICA high school student-athletes and coaches.

You’ll ride, hike, swim, practice skills, enjoy onsite adventure activities, learn trail advocacy skills, sit around the camp fire, eat awesome meals, and chill in the woods with old and new mountain biking friends.

Who

The camp is for student-athletes in grades 9 through 12 (as of Fall 2020). There is something for riders of all levels. On-the-bike activities will be focused on adventure and not racing. Even if you’re new to mountain biking, come to the camp to learn from trained coaches.

We are also looking for adult chaperones (must be at least NICA Level 1 coach licensed) to help with the camp in exchange for food and lodging. Duties would include hanging with the campers in the evenings so that our hard-working coaches can have some down-time after a busy day on the bikes.

What

Days filled with group rides, trail maintenance clinics, advocacy seminars, off-bike adventure activities, hiking, and great bonding experiences with other NICA students and coaches from across the country.

Campers explore the epic trails with guided group rides each day.

Registration fees include:

– All meals starting Monday dinner through Friday lunch

– Clinics and seminars on trail maintenance and advocacy

– Experience-level guided rides with NICA licensed coaches

– Guided rides

– Social activities

– Yurt lodging accomodations

Optional Transportation Add-On

– Round trip transportation from Boise to camp

Where

The 2020 Idaho Teen Trail Corps Camp is being hosted at the YMCA Camp at Horsetheif Reservoir in Cascade.
