Come join us for Idaho’s first NICA Adventure Camp! We’ll be based near and supported by the Horsethief YMCA Camp outside of Cascade, ID along the banks of Horsethief Reservoir. Student-athletes will enjoy adventure challenge and team building activities, learn outdoor skills such as orienteering and leave-no-trace principles, discuss leadership values, and get their adventure riding on! We’ll also hone our camping skills by sleeping in tents and being primarily outside, but supported by the Y camp for meals and showers.

Complimenting the awesome mountain biking adventures you’ll experience camp activities to include ziplines, giant swings, ropes challenge course, swimming, and climbing wall…just to name a few. All NICA student-athletes are encouraged to join us to reap the benefits of mountain biking, camaraderie, and the outdoors.

Contact Matt Galyardt at matt@idahomtb.org for questions.

DETAILS

4.5 days and 4 nights of fun and mountain bikes with a cast of co-ed NICA student-athletes and coaches.

You’ll ride, hike, swim, practice skills, enjoy onsite adventure activities, sit around the camp fire, eat awesome meals, and chill in the woods with old and new mountain biking friends.

Who

The camp is for student-athletes in grades 6 through 12 (as of Fall 2020). There is something for riders of all levels. On-the-bike activities will be focused on adventure and not racing. Even if you’re new to mountain biking, come to the camp to learn from trained coaches.

We are also looking for adult chaperones (must be at least NICA Level 1 coach licensed) to help with the camp in exchange for food and lodging. Duties would include hanging with the campers in the evenings so that our hard-working coaches can have some down-time after a busy day on the bikes.

What

Days filled with group rides, off-bike adventure activities, hiking, and great bonding experiences with other NICA students and coaches from across the country.

Campers will work with coaches to refine their riding skills and explore the epic trails with guided group rides each day.

Registration fees include:

– All meals starting Monday dinner through Friday lunch

– Experience-level specific coaching from NICA licensed coaches

– Guided rides

– Social activities

– Tent camping (limited number of loaner tents available)

Optional Transportation Add-On

– Round trip transportation from Boise to camp

Where

The 2020 Idaho Adventure camp is being hosted at the YMCA Camp at Horsetheif Reservoir in Cascade.

Campers will enjoy daily trips to some of the nearby trail networks such as Brundage Mountain Resort, Jug Mountain and Bear Basin.
